I enjoy dark stuff, adventure, smut, and light stuff. Smut is very enjoyed, but often falls under "discussion of transition" unless my character is just giving - which is something I enjoy writing too!



Name: Friend, or to close friends, "El."
Race: Forest Elf
Age: 113
Gender: Feminine
(The persona of Friend in the mask is supposed to be genderless - they/them works well. Without the mask, both they and she are ideal. But you're never going to go wrong with just using she and her pronouns. She is trans.)

Looks: Most of the time, Friend is a tall, skinny person dressed in robes, wearing a leather plague doctor's mask - if she doesn't have her hoods up, one can see the tips of her ears out from under the mask.
Without the mask, she looks young - in her early twenties. She has reddish brown hair and a rather long face. She often looks stressed and tired when she has her mask off.

Friend is a monk - specifically, a traveling doctor from a monastery where leaving behind your personal identity to work as a doctor is emphasized. She spends most of her time wandering from place to place and healing people.

Personality:
Slightly morbid, if understated sense of humor.
Rather impulsive (she manages this by turning to external sources when sober; other people or philosophical paths).
Generally presents herself as wanting to hear about Your Problems, and tries to avoid talking about herself.
Most of the time, fairly calm.
Will usually try to avoid giving advice so much as asking illuminating questions.
If asked directly about herself, she's generally either avoidant or too honest, but won't be deceptive.
Unhinged, if well intentioned.
A little awkward in social situations.
Does take a bit of satisfaction in spooking people with the mask/robes.
Responds to stress by trying to take charge of the situation.
Does better when she has a goal to work towards.
She thinks of herself as self-absorbed; this is not accurate.
If in a particularly strange headspace, she'll start swearing casually.
If blame could fall on one of her allies or friends, she'll take it without thinking.
Sticks to her principals and her word.
She has severe stage fright, and becomes terrified if looked upon by anyone of authority.
El does think of herself differently under the persona "Friend" rather than "El" - she's convinced that Friend is a good person and El isn't.

History:
El was the oldest in her sibling group. While she had an older brother, he was an adult by the time she was born, and more of a threat than a sibling. For the first twenty-some years of her life, she generally did her best to protect her siblings from the worst of her family's abuse. However, she became quite severely addicted to heroin a fantasy drug injected by needle, and spent the next twenty-some years in various stages of addicted, attempting recovery, and backsliding. Eventually, after multiple attempts at running away, she succeeded. She managed to make her way up north to a monastery, where she first studied martial arts, then healing, as one of a handful of people trained in the style. She's generally much happier these days.

This character translates very easily to human! The big difference is that she's from rural Appalachia, and got into heroin at age fifteen. She started trying to run away, and managed to put enough distance between her and her family at age twenty, but it took a few more years to kick the drug habit, and get into school to be an EMT. She starts making a concerted effort to be completely sober around age twenty-five, but still struggles through age thirty.

This all depends on what canon point I play her from as to how she'll respond!
Physical Affection
Yes! She's wary of initiating and has a lot of flinch reactions she can't entirely control, but will still welcome any physical affection people have for her despite that.

Physical Violence
Go for it! Her ability to respond depends on where she is in her life; at a certain point, she learns Baguazhang and Tai Chi, and slides into "deadly for the average person/non super powered adventurer".

Relationships
Absolutely - Friend is bi, and happy to try things with anyone. This does depend on her canon point - the older and more sober she is the more likely she is to be cautious, or outright turn people down while citing her monastery identity. She has less of this in modern worlds, though. She will often fish with questions to test people's tolerance/interest in trans people, but I'm happy to hand wave that.

Sex
Yes, though again depends on how old she is - the less sober she is, the more likely she is to jump into things (usually while intoxicated). When she's older, she definitely prefers sex with people she's in a relationship with - she often has an emotional crash after orgasm, and generally wants someone she can trust with her after. A fair amount of the sex she has often involves her performing for her partner/s without receiving.

Magic
She's not innately magical. In her world, she does have a learned style of healing that is near magical, though it only heals to a certain point, needs to be supplemented with stitches or other physical care. And she can't help with poison.

Mind Reading
She's not going to be happy if she learns, but she has no defenses for it! Be warned that you may see some real fucked up shit if you go digging, and that her internal monolog is different from the way she presents herself.

Medical
Generally a normal looking elf (or human when applicable).
She blew a vein when she was young and it never quite healed right; her left hand has poor circulation as a result, and gets particularly bad in winter.
Her physical health generally depends on where I play her from, but most of the time there's not much noticeable going on.
She is an addict coming out of a wildly abusive family. No matter where she is she's likely to feel cravings under stress; but how she handles those cravings is different depending on how old she is. There's also all kinds of health nastiness with regular heroin use.
